Om Fredrik Rysjedal (English further down)

Fredrik Rysjedal (f. 1980), teikneserieskapar frå Leirvik i Sogn, bur og jobbar i Bergen.

Fredrik Rysjedal er teikneserieskapar med utdanninga si frå Fakultetet for kunst, musikk og design på Universitetet i Bergen. I 2019 fullførte han sin PHD, eit kunstnarisk utviklingsprosjekt om digitale teikneseriar. Du kan lese heile prosjektet på Researchcatalogue.net. Han jobbar med teikneseriar i ulike format, bøker, hefter, sceniske framsyningar og digitale teikneseriar.

No arbeider han på sci-fi-teikneserien Kunstgalaksen som er eit bestillingsverk av Bergen Kommune. Teikneserien gir eit unikt innblikk til den kunstneriske utsmykkinga på Holen skole i Bergen. Kunstgalaksen handlar om Hanna som ein dag vert vitne til korleis utenomjordiske vitjar planeten vår; utan å verte oppdaga. I forsøket på å gøyme seg vert ho kasta inn i følget, som er på kunstomvisning på skulen. Dei må for all del ikkje finne ut kven ho er, for om dei få nyss om det vil dei måtte slette hukommelesen hennar for alltid. Teikneserien vert laga for målgruppa 8–12 og vil fyrst kome ut i bokform for elevane på Holen skole i Bergen våren 2026, og vert lansert for resten av Noreg sumaren 2026.

Andre prosjekt som er under utvikling er: Den raude steinen, Takeringen (saman med Rolf Losnegård), Sorry og Adjø Tulli. Alle desse prosjekta kan ein følge utviklinga av og lese undervegs på Patreon.

About Fredrik Rysjedal

Norwegian comic artist, and illustrator (1980) from Leirvik in Sogn, live and work in Bergen(Norway).

Fredrik Rysjedal is a cartoonist with a degree from the Faculty of Art, Music and Design at the University of Bergen. In 2019, he completed his PHD, an artistic research project on digital comics. You can read the entire project at Researchcatalogue.net. He works with comics in various formats, books, booklets, stage performances, and digital comics. 

He is currently working on the sci-fi cartoon series Art Galaxy, which is a commissioned work by Bergen Municipality. The comic provides a unique insight into the artistic decoration at Holen School in Bergen. Art Galaxy is about Hanna, who one day witnesses how extraterrestrials visit our planet, without being discovered. In her attempt to hide, she is thrown into a group who are on an art tour at the school. They must not discover who she is, because if they do, they will have to erase her memory forever. The comic is made for the target group 8–12 and will first be published in book form for students at Holen School in Bergen in the spring of 2026, and will be launched for the rest of Norway in the summer of 2026. An English digital edition wil also be released in the fall 2026.

Other projects that are in development are: The Red Stone, Ring of Eternity (together with Rolf Losnegård), Sorry and Adieu Tulli. All of these projects can be followed and read about on Patreon.

A slow self presentation

A short Norwegian self presentation video from 2020, made for the launch of the book Elsewhere on Kinakaal forlag. The book was a cooperation with the Chinese comic artist Anusman. See both presentations here with English and Chinese subtitles.
